History

Year1930s
PlaceLondon, England
Created byPublished by Harry Craddock (Savoy)

A trio of equal parts gin, apricot brandy and Calvados, the Angel Face was printed in Harry Craddock's 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book. Craddock called for it to be shaken, though modern bartenders usually stir this all-spirit drink. Deceptively smooth for its strength, it hides plenty of punch behind a fruity, apple-and-apricot nose. It has quietly stayed on cocktail lists ever since.
